These are of the driver’s side axle and where it enters the housing.
There is lots of fluid leaking from this side. As you may recall, the seal is only a few years old and the discussion prior was that maybe the spring clip that sits at/near the end of the axle inside the housing may have lost its “spring”. I did finally receive a new clip.
Is now a good time to pull this axle off and replace the clip?

Am still trying to figure out why the transmission makes so much noise when I attempt to backup the car. The last time it did this, I shut the car off and then with the shift release button down was able to shift into park. I was not able to shift into park as trying to felt like and sounded like metal against metal.

Possible something fell into the transmission with the repairs?

Certain the noise of coming from inside the transmission? Maybe a friend/neighbor can drive it while on jackstands to isolate the noise?

That click reminds me of the axle splines shifting in the wheel hub when transitioning from forward to reverse or vice versa. But I've never heard it so loudly.

With the front end on jacks and being able to rotate the front tires, I was optimistic about the car being put in reverse without problems. Lowered the car, started the car and gently put it in reverse without any hint of previous issues. But when I put the car in drive there was similar noise - but more of a humming noise - that became louder when I tried to shift into drive or put it in park. I am befuddled!

Will put the car back on jacks in the morning and will rotate the front tires again. Not sure what else to do. Appreciate any suggestions! The car is an automatic.

Moving the tires did not change anything. Initially there’s a humming noise, when moving the shifter towards reverse, the noise sounds like metal is going to move against metal.
I have to shut off the car before putting it into park.
Any thoughts? Anyone?

Here’s a new video of the passenger side axle; the cv boot and hub are not moving. I think that is where the humming noise is coming from. The wheel hub should be moving when the car is in reverse, correct?

The driver’s side wheel did nothing when the noise from the passenger side was evident.

It occurred to me that maybe I should be looking at the rear wheels when we tried to put the car in reverse! Or does it not matter?

There is something wrong with that hub. The axle shaft is turning but the inner or is it out boot is not turning. I think there is a problem in that axle joint.

My thought as well. I suppose i will have to remove the hub to extract the axle - yes?
