Volvo Radio missing, Aftermarket fire smell issue!

Thank's Neil....Can U explain these speaker "controllers"?? where would they be located? How many? I ask out of fear...As we already know...the person...let's call him hacker...lol... hacker as we know cut the speaker wires at the top of that amp and then hooked them to his own red/blk wires that ran to the front to the radio... I'm thinking maybe he did not know about these things between speakers? So they will be ok?????????? sorry for blurr pic's...What I'm hoping for is when I take that amp out and look at it...I can match up the color wires to that snip and clip that was done so close to the sq plug on top of the amp...
A question...yes I have some pic's thanks to both U guys...but they are pic's of "B" sq plug in that goes in the back of the radio...are U trying to tell me that's the same layout that goes into the top of the Amp...??? I really wish Hacker left me some wires sticking out of that Amp Sq connector...how the heck am I gonna attach the wires back to that...pull each pin (if can) solder and push pin back in? grrrrraaaaaa huh!

I can't remember...when I had the rear seat back off to do the shocks(made my own tool)....ohh and that's another topic by itself... if I saw speakers there in those big round holes...I'm thinking not...but I was not on that mission at that time...lol

I am sorry, but I have no idea where they are as I also did not know of them and when I went back to try to find them they had crushed the car. The part number for them is: 3533807 if that helps.

This may help a little for locations. What is not helpful is that they normally leave the NLA part numbers at the bottom of the parts listings. So I believe the part I am talking about would be either #17 or #23 on the drawing which may help to locate:

Good old Volvo of Toronto as they still have the NLA parts listed (they can be found used fairly easily). The parts my buddy has new are part #23 which is one of the crossover parts for the rear speakers. There is also a different part number which appear to be in the front doors.

Everything you need to assess your speaker
system at this point is in the trunk. Don’t sweat
any of the details between the trunk and the
speakers for now. There’s a good chance
that it’s all still OK. At least if they left the
stock speakers. Fingers Crossed.

It looks like all the other guy did was cut the
8 wires in the short harness from the amp to
the square plug that runs to all the speakers.

All you need to do is cut out all of that red and
black wire to the original leads, test each of the
four speaker channels, then crimp on replacement
terminal connectors and hook them back up.

You may be a little short on harness length back
to the amp, so check that before you crimp on the
fresh connectors. Alpine shipped with rings, but
you can use forks if you like.

Before you reconnect to the amp, you may want
to put some signal to the speakers to be sure that
they all work, and that they haven’t been trashed
by the previous owners. At the very least, use a
speaker popper to be sure that all of the wiring
is connected.

Remember that the amp was “borrowed”
from Alpine’s retail line of their V12 series.
The speaker outputs from those amps are
just stacked terminal strips in a standard
Alpine 4 channel configuration. Pull the
amp out and you’ll see what I mean.

Volvo version, they added a plastic shield.

Aftermarket colors groups are:

Front L - White
Front R - Gray
Rear L - Green
Rear R - Violet

Note the black stripe for negative.

There should be enough wire left at the
amp’s screw terminals to match them up.

NEIL and BJ !! U guys are a breath of fresh air!!! As U both know, I have yet to take the amp off the wall to inspect more closely! but now that I know they are screw term's.....heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hawwwwwwwwwww

I think there will be enough clues now to know where the wires were at one time!!!

but...............don't U guys dear leave me now!......LOL......weather has been up and down here...Mr. Woodchuck say early spring...Mother say's not so fast Chuck....it's like 19 in morn then 50 at noon then 30 by 3pm....I'm tryin' to sneak in all kinds of things, hope to get back to volvo by end of next week??

Remember guys I got that cheap 20$ 8series volvo radio off ebay...my "HOPE" is to get that plugged in after wires are fixed and see what we got as far as speakers working and the such...and that the amp works(I don't see why it wouldn't, it looks like it was just a pull the power snip the speaker wires) I'm hoping the "code" biz for the radio will not be too much a hassle...also I have to relook, but I don't think the 8series radio has that green plug? only the 9series...but well get to that soon enough??

The seller should have the code. If not you can get it from Volvo. In the US I think you can get it on-line from Volvo. There is a label on the radio and also information stamped into the casing you will need to get the 4 digit code number.
