I had trouble getting a reading on the front ABS sensors, I wasn't getting the 1000 Ohms ish that Matty reports. This is on a car with well functioning brakes. It was tough to get the probes in and hold everything together
600 ohms does seem low compared to mattymoos site, he reports 900-1380 ohms. I don't think your measurement is out of range though, these are not resistive load devices with critical impedance specs
A two wire sensor puts a voltage on one side and the other sends modulated current back to the ABS which is modulated by the wheel ring.

So you think these may be ok as they are not showing as open circuit?

Screenshots from the 1999 V70 I recently repaired:
Similar to your own codes?? (apart from throttle and long term fuel of course)
The bottom one is before ABS repair and some codes were due to a flat battery.
As I mentioned he also had no speedo prior to repair

Thanks for the comprehensive notes Mike. Really appreciate the work. Problem up until now is that when I have switched the engine off, the warning lights have gone off. When they have come on, the only thing to hand has been my regular code checker and it does not show the ABS codes, only the P0600 comms. code. Resetting that removes the other codes. I will try to see if I can get the P0600 to stay on while I connect the Vida to is and see if it then shows the ABS codes too.
I have a Matty module on it's way here so hope that will fix it. I was also at PnP yesterday, and following up from info from you and Matty I had a look at a 00 S80 non-turbo. Could not see the part number on the module so pulled it. Major pain compared to the P80's as the 4 hard pipes run directly under the module. Had to pull the air-box and main fuse box to get access. You can imagine my surprise when the part number was exactly the same as on the project V70! At $20 CDN it is worth trying to see if it makes any difference or at least throws other codes to show we are going in the right direction!
I'll post back if I make any head way on this issue.
Neil.

Thanks my friend!
Short trip to the store today and no lights on trip. Typically the turn signals played up again. Almost need to over-correct the turn to get then to cancel sometimes. I have to find time when not golfing to swap in the one pulled yesterday at PnP.

Well I tried Vida again today and managed to get it to show the layout map as in precopster (Mike) shows above with all the various modules. The computer/Vida went through the process of communication with all the modules and did not show it had issues with any, but when completed the modules were either green, light blue or white (TIM?). The only exception was the ABS which was orange/red in color. However, when I clicked on it nothing showed up. With the other modules that are green it shows the module number and other info, but nothing for the ABS. In theory from the color it means there is an issue but that is it. I am not confident using Vida, but am I doing something wrong or not activating whatever shows failure codes? Is the car just not communicating with the ABS module?
As I am getting no where with Vida, while I am waiting for the re-built module to arrive I am going to swap the PnP sourced unit in and see if I get any other response even if it is still errors but at least different ones. That may at least point me in the direction saying I am looking in the right direction for the problem(s).
I drove the car today for the first time since cleaning the front ABS sensor connectors in the engine bay, as well as removing the power and multi-connector from the ABS module and cleaning them also.
Same as last time. 5-6km trip all was well and no warning lights. Stopped and came back to car about 20 minutes later. Started up and drove about 100m and the ABS and Brake check-lights came on and the speedo and trip/milometer stopped working. Drove about half-way home and then the speedo/milometer/trip came back on and the ABS/brake warning lights went off and the STC warning light came on again. No engine check-light this time though. Got home, switched the engine off, waited a few seconds and re-started the car and no warning lights again.
Is there a process the system works through to set/check the system and then maybe works it way through the issues and then eventually reaches the final conclusion where the error is?
Oh, and the turn signals were random again. Seems I have to over-correct sometimes to get them to cancel. Time to swap the PnP replacement in to see if the other lever makes a difference. Really don't want to have to pull the steering wheel to remove the clock-spring!

Doesn't Mattys site tell you the speedo and odo drop is a strong indicator of module failure??

Yes and no. I have been e-mailing with him and as I wrote earlier I get the feeling he is not 100% convinced it is the issue, and in his defense as I have no codes to help with the diagnostics it is hard all around to make any sense of this. If I understood the logic or how the car systems interlink and self test and the cascade logic they work with then maybe I could figure this out without throwing parts at it.
Oh, well. Parts throwing it will have to be for now.
Thanks anyway,
Neil.

Decided to swap the ABS modules over tonight and re-test with Vida.
This time Vida came up with ABS errors, but when I re-checked it looks like the master connector was not seated properly.
Re-seated it and ABS shows ok, but DIM is now in yellow which it was not before. Showing an error of CDM-0001 VSS speed signal missing. Assuming you have no speed signal I'd hazard a guess that the ABS would not work as it needs a speed signal to operate.
Does this possibly mean the issue is not with the ABS after all but possibly with the speedo cluster itself? Anyone know haw the car speed signal works? Doe it go to the ABS first and then to the DIM or the other way around. It would possibly make sense that the 2nd option would be the case in this instance?
I get either the STC/ABS lights on on start up, or the brake/ABS failure light on.
Does this give any more clues to anyone out there that can now point me in a different direction?
Thanks,
Neil.
