It's a bit of a pain, but manageable with the right tools, some tricky ass bolts in there, but at least you don't have to take half the car apart to get it out. You absolutely do not need to mess with the timing belt at all that I can remember, only the engine mount so you can reach a couple of boltsprotonsnow wrote: ↑13 Sep 2020, 16:36 I was searching for a video on how to remove. Only found one with an s60, and they removed front tyre, timing belt, engine mount...
I'd rather not mess with the timing belt right now.
Things were so much easier when I had a 1979 mini.![]()

Thanks, that's good news. I'm actually quite handy at reaching impossible bolts, but I suck at being in the boiling hot sun (after 15 minutes of feeling sticky and sweaty everything annoys me). If I was certain this would fix the problem, I'd go for it, but since it's an uncertainty, and I hay be looking at a few hours of pain for nothing, it will have to wait until I can find a better place to do the job.Poppafranku wrote: ↑13 Sep 2020, 18:27 It's a bit of a pain, but manageable with the right tools, some tricky ass bolts in there, but at least you don't have to take half the car apart to get it out. Will have to check all the needed tools first (fortunately I have the Haynes Manual, so it should be in there) and if something's missing, will have to order online (I'm one of the very few people in this country who has refused to wear a mask from day one, so I'm not allowed in any shops right now).

No one enjoys the sun and heat, much less when it's this humid out. It is the only thing that makes sense, as there is nowhere else on the engine pressure can build

I don't know. I hope you're right. When this started I was also assured the 'only thing' it could be was the PCV hoses and oil trap... And yet that did not work. What if some gunk got back into the PCV pipes right after I changed them?
I still find it strange since the car runs fine at higher speeds.

The oil trap return line makes a little U inside the oil pan I believe, that's where the crap stays

So... after 3 years I am still experiencing this issue with loss of power...
In the meantime, I have had a few more things fixed, including cylinder head gasket, heater core, water pup and timing belt, de-clogging of oil pan, coolant temperature sensor, air temperature sensor, turbo membrane was checked, and a bunch of other things... Here's a list:
- Turbo membrane
- Maf sensor
- Cylinder head gasket + timing belt + water pump
- PCV system (car passes the glove test now)
- Turbo control valve (the Porsche one suggested in the beginning of this thread)
- Vacuum hoses
- Air temperature sensor
- Collant temperature sensor
- Thermostat
- Oil radiator
- Coolant Radiator
- Spark plugs
- PCV system + oil trap
- Alternator voltage regulator
- Heater Core
- Battery
(The car just came back from 6 months at 2 different mechanics. $3500 later, they both gave up and say they can't find the issue).
So the situation now is: Car passes the glove test, so there's no longer an issue with that, and oil dipstick no longer gets pushed out from pressure buildup, but low power remains.
I may be wrong about this but it does not feel like limp mode, I'm inclined to say it has a little more power than limp mode, but the turbo definitely doesn't engage. Although sometimes, when the car is cold, it will have full power for a few minutes, then as soon as it warms up, power goes away again.
I've been reading a lot about loss of power. But everyone mentions limp mode. This definitely feels a little more powerful than limp mode. Also, many people reporting issues with the oxygen sensor, but almost always on diesel models (not sure if same situation occurs on petrol).
Any help appreciated.

Yes, I have Vida 2014d and a DiCE unit, but there are no codes relevant to this issue. Only a couple of codes concerning the alarm battery and the driver's side reaview mirror sending the wrong signal.

you may find it useful to install a $60 boost gauge , whilst cruising along i see my gauge jump to boost as soon as i stomp on the gas.
when i let off it immediately drops back into vac.
