Following up on this: In a different 2000 V70 (Geronimo), I had very slight grinding during acceleration. I had a machine shop replace the carrier bearing. The Febi 9181693 bearing isn't an exact replacement but fits. It has seemed fine for a few thousand miles now but I haven't stress tested it. I have yet to replace the bearing in the axle which this thread is discussing but I trust it will work as well.
