Assuming this is your light panel. I think most Volvos have as in the default "0" position DRL lights on whether hi or low beam. If you switch over to the middle position or "Parking Lights" position all the exterior lights will be on except for hi and low beam, both will be off.
The LED uses so little power we just splice into one of park light wiring and drive in that position during the day. The LED will continue to stay on after you turn on the low beam. That is why I recommend putting the LED on the high beam side so it does not run hot. Halogens put out a lot of heat and you rarely use the hi beams.

He is burnishing the plastic at the same time meaning the heat is melting the lens smooth and clear. We continue to used Mother's for a quick removal of haze, cleaning and polishing. Still can get results with just elbow grease.

After polishing, clean with alcohol and let dry and spray.

I tried the Meguiar's, forgot to take a before pic of headlight.
Since it's cold outside, I had to do the job in the bathroom with the fan on. The coating spray was very strong.
In conclusion, the headlight looks much better than it was before.

I bought two HID D2R Xenon bulbs. I got the car with one HID and one halogen bulb. During installation, I found out the existing HID has a ballast and the halogen doesn't. To have two HIDs, I would need two ballasts. I cannot find a HID bulb for the 2005 XC90 with ballasts.
I chose the HID because it is dependent on the ambient light conditions. The owner's manual recommends a Bi-Xenon bulb as an option.

Sorry, not sure why this was overlooked. I believe there was a small bulb inside the housing as part of the parking light setting. We removed the bulb and spliced into that. You can splice into any of the parking lights as the HALO uses very little amperage. Since we feel it's safer to have the all the parking lights for visibility during the day the halo is always on when switched to that setting.Oka wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 18:34Yes it is bright enough.
My next question, I would think all Volvos, especially, the older models would have the same lighting settings, with the low beam meant as Driving Light? I don't know about your model. Or, did you modify the settings to have the Angel Eye for driving, if so, where's the low beam? That lighting style is so cool!
DRL is the low beam HID which reduces its life expectancy besides burn up the reflectors, especially in the summer. On all of our other cars unless there is forward LED on the parking light setting we just have the headlights / low beams on. Our 03 Odyssey has LED low beams.
