But like jonesg says, I use them so infrequently it is hard to justify buying yet another bulky tool to store. My mechanic buddy bought one of Amazon that looks similar. We spent about half an hour modifying it to make it work as the parts did not fit together out the box.
However, I felt a lot more confident using it than the 2 versions I have. I just had to do the 02 XC70 struts recently and without access to the fancy tool went back to the cheap threaded tools. Used all 4 of them as the springs are hard to compress on this car. I did use large re-useable zip-ties to circle the tools to try to prevent them slipping off the spring coils. Worked well. I'd still rather have this tool though.
It is up there with a hydraulic press, but for the same reason I don't have one. Storage space and lack of use.
