MVS reunion in Queens

Then I recover my 9 month stranded in UK daughter from JFK
The second one sounds like a more important reunion! That's awesome.

Rollled up the Taconic at 55 in Cruise last night bringing home my daughter from JFK

It was lovely hearing ME7 demand torque and spool the turbo on the hills. Stayed in 5th the whole time except for a couple of hills where it ran away

This morning.

Oil change and fixed exhaust leak

3 ton is a little overkill for the compressor housing, but it works.

Nice!

What's RPMs in 5th at common highway speeds? My Alltrack runs at 3k @95MPH in 6th, which is the ratio I'd have chosen as an engineer. In other words, normal hw cruising is under 3k for good MPG.

The turbo is back in the car with a new CHRA... and the problems persist. Still have that annoying whine and the boost still acts weird. I'm down to a clogged cat on the boost issue... I have NO idea what else it could be. It boosts to around 12 PSI, backs off to 10, then eventually builds back up to 15 PSI where it should be. Really weird.

Anyway, the Japanifold added a nice sound to it in the high revs, so that's nice! Definitely worth the upgrade while I was in there, especially considering the flow increase.

On a positive note, if anyone needs a new turbo, turborebuild.co.uk was a great choice! $185 for a brand new VSR balanced 19t CHRA with 2 day shipping from the UK. Not bad! It even came with all the washers and the drain gasket. They also offer upgrades and upgrade parts. I was considering a billet compressor wheel, but I decided to hold off since I'm still planning on going with a K24 eventually.

Sounds like a collapsing hose or old/torn/leaking CBV.

I've got a Japanifold hanging on the wall in my garage. Hint to myself.

My last picture shows 2200 rpm at 46 mph, I must have been in 4th for the picture

Happen to replace the turbo control valve? My guess is the pressure may be getting high enough to push through it. If it isn't the CBV or a hose, my guess would be this... (Assuming the ECU isn't causing the issue intentionally)

Picked up towing hook, rear abs sensors, the fuel pump and new front engine mounts from the V70 waiting for installation on the 850. I have still 2 weekends to finish the job (including this f*%£àç§"ing slave cylinder, of course), and then back to university again till June to get my "graduation". At 56 y.o it should be time !
