Update. Went to get it smogged. Wouldn’t pass because various systems were not smog ready. The smog tech kindly clipped the CEM in place. Took two minutes. I drove nearly 150 miles and all but the “evap” were ready. Only when I plugged in VIDA and did the fuel evaporator test did the evap read “ready” for smog. Passed fine and starts fine. No evident reason for any of the “no dash lights, no-start” issues, which were solved by connecting the battery while the key was in the ignition, position zero, with the fuses for “ignition” and “fuel pump” removed. Then install the ignition fuse, then the fuel pump fuse, and it starts perfectly.
I’ve driven 250 plus miles and no starting issues. Thanks to all who chimed in.

It's now been nearly a year since my last post on this thread, and I have a brief update. I DO believe I had a bad battery, and replacing it solved SOME electronic problems, but not all. Something else was going on.
The intermittent "no crank, no start" issue had left me stranded numerous times, but I think I finally found the trouble. Seems like it has been the "antenna ring" all along. I bought:

and have no start issues since installing.
In short, if you have numerous electronic gremlins, first make sure you have a good battery, and before replacing the starter motor (like I did), replace the antenna ring (it's cheaper and much easier to swap out). My two cents.
Seems like all the fuse pulling, starter motor swapping, and everything else I tried, could have been resolved much sooner if I had replaced the antenna ring...
Thanks for everyone's input.
