Hello, I've got to the point of trying to line up the marks. Things are a little different on my 2000 s70 w turbo though. First marks on my cams are at the 12 o clock positon when lined up with the top TB cover. Next the mark on the block isn't clear to me yet. Anybody have any advise. I'm running out of daylight.

Thanks

Rather than looking for them, use your finger nail...you should be able to feel them on the underside.

I think I misunderstood you. You're lining up the crankshaft markings with the block right? Actually, you should line it up with the valley's in the cover before you take the cover off. Hope this helps.
Okay, I re-read your first post and not sure what you're saying. These are the only markings you should need for your car....the thumbnail remark was about the lower one...on the camshaft pulley:

I've got the part down. My question is after lining those marks on the cams with 12 o clock posistions on the top TB cover valleys; how important is the positioning of the crankshaft pulley?

Thanks for your time on this one I appreciate it.

OK Theres only 2 positions of the main pully when the cam marks are lined up with the top cover, theres a mark on the main pulley and the 2 gear teeth on either side have little cuts out of them on their backside closest to te engine, this gouping is either up or down when the cam marks are alined with the top cover. My problem is the mark on the engine block itself I can't find it to line the main pulley grouping up with. Shold I just make sure its on top, when the cams are alined?

It should line up with a mark...but if you can't see it you should be able to feel it with a nail...rub your nail back and forth in that area and see if you can't feel it....I swear, you should.

Thanks for all you help MIJ. I found the mark on the block its actually a protruding piece off of the engine. I've got the new water pump and timing belt on now. Only thing now is the cam marks aren't lined up and the belt is really loose. Also as soon as I slipped the old belt off the exhaust cam rolled to the left about a tooth! I've gotta hit it again in the morning. I'm guessing I'll have to take the belt off re-aline the cams and put it back on??? The tensioner on my 2000 is a little different its a spring tensioned device. I think its positioning needs to be adjusted...

Thanks again,
Goodnight.

Yes, VADIS instructions say that with the new belt on to check the alignment marks as well as the belt's tension. If these are off, you have to take the belt off and "re-align" everything again. Good luck!
