No cutting...in one of those pipes is the expansion valve and filter...don't want to clog it with shavings.

I'll open them with spring release tool which i made last year when i was replacing dryer.

When i was removing center console i forgot that there are two main connectors for it's wiring underneath...so i popped off the metal clips which holds the wiring and don't know how to route them properly.

Do you have a picture from underneath of center console for 850?

You cut well away from the pipe, and I replace the orfice tube as part of this job. It’s a $1.89 item

Hey Misha, not sure if we will have time, but tomorrow I am working on a 96 850. Are you talking about the 2 large connectors under the center tray under the coin holder? I won't have time to remove the center console, but I can look under there. If you can post a picture of the area and what you need to figure out I will see if I can help.

No....whole loom from the underside of the center console.
Clips can go in one way only...but can't figure out how to route wiring that way.

3 days mission completed!

Today i went to ac shop to test for leaks on pipes i needed to disconnect for evaporator job and to service system.

Everything went well,no leaks, system serviced, vacuumed and filled with refrigerant.

Nice to have fully working AC after a year and after cooking ourselves in the car last summer.

Just one note i must add....
While Nissens heater core was a perfect fit with oe o rings...evaporator was a little smaller than original and pipes were a bit off.
It is smaller for about 1cm and i needed to bent the pipes a bit in order to put the pipes from the car onto the evaporator pipes.

I can't recall what brand I used now when I did this on our 93 850. It was a royal pain as the pipes from the evaporator were not angled correctly and I had to re-shape them, and then the flared ends would not allow the snap rings to fit until I filed then down about 1mm in diameter.

That was the hardest part of the job!

Well done, Misha! Glad to hear all is good in the A/C world again in your car! Enjoy!!

It’s pretty typical to massage the horns a bit to get the evap in. The OE Volvo one might fit better, but at a $400 premium I’ll bend them a bit. Don’t forget the OE seal 9171783 at $10 to make your air ice cold

I seem to remember leaving the HvAC loose while making the hard line connections made it easier too. Take a photo before to guide placement.
