Sveedy wrote: 05 Dec 2020, 08:01 So now I'm curious - When Sveedy was completely stock I noticed that the stock dash turbo gauge didn't rise above about 3/4 of the way into the white under wot. Now with mods I've made I see the gauge go all the way to the far right, basically burying the needle. Any idea what the stock gauge is calibrated to ? I'm I developing too much boost when it goes that far into the white zone ?
The stock gauge isn't really the most accurate thing in the world... it's more of a rough guide than a real measurement tool. That said, from my personal experience and with no other basis than my own observations, I'd say that the far end of the white is about 1 bar. So somewhere around 14 psi. All my Volvos with the gauge have gone about 3/4 of the way into the white when stock.

So in essence, yes, but depending on your mods, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. Overboosting is not good, but a correct boost curve and fuelling controlled by the ECU is exactly what we're all hunting for, after all. ;)

I know the boost TCV is different on the older cars (-98) to the later peirburg one used on the V/C/S70's. The later one is only rated to 12psi from what Volvo told me. I don't know, but would assume the previous one is possibly rated the same way. As Sommerfeldt says, it is more a guide than an accurate measure.
