What kind of sealant for the cam cover?

The coils ground both through the harness and through the M6 bolt into the head, I bet both are important.

The primary side is grounded by the ECU to fire, though.

And what the hell are these extra bolts? Don't you hate it when you end up with extra bolts? Yike.

They are 10mm hex head, a matched pair. Not big enough to be really structural so I'm not very concerned. They happen to be the same size as the cam position sensor caps, thread right in. But I had two matching torx head screw/bolts that seemed to go there and fit perfectly.

They were in a different (unmarked) tub than the cam cover bolts and a little different. No unfilled holes on the head.

The screws on my camshaft position sensor are hex, not torx, so I’m guessing that’s what those are. Not sure what the torx are.

Oh! It just occurred to me. They are the third cam sprocket bolt on each camshaft! Don’t know why it just popped into my head. Plastic cover is on, so you’d never see it.

Glad I didn’t go out and stress it.

Best way to keep track of where bolts go ... store them in the bolt holes they go in.

Interesting, your sprocket bolts are torx? Mine are all hex. Maybe something that changed in later MY's?

First time I am in a big job, I bag and tag. I put a reference number on the bag, and then write the reference number on the paper printout the VIDA procedure.

The hour of time this takes has always come back when I find something which I can't recognize.

If I break a fastener, I make a note so I can take the old ones with me to the store to order new.

Last and not least - when all the bags are empty, you know you are good.

Last time I did a job with lots of fiddly bolts, I used a leftover egg carton:

I like the bag idea in theory since it would be easier to fit longer bolts and oddly shaped clips, although the few times I've used bags I end up with pointy bits sticking out and making holes.
