Dang was the Volvo engineer thinking. Went to disconnect the power steering hydraulic line. The hex sizes are 16mm & 18mm. Dude 16mm & 18mm are on the same Flare wrench. That is why most use a odd size and a even size hex. This is what my dad would call a EFU.

Where is this counter hold needed? I though the PS flares went right into the rack?

Maybe go open end wrench on the larger one ?

Pump > Hard line > Hose > Hard line > Rack. Trying to separate the hose from the Hard line so I can remove the pump to make clearance when I pull the engine out. Want to open it where I can catch the fluid. I'm weary about using an open end, rounded too many Flare nuts when I was younger.

I have a set of crowsfoot’s like these. I’m not sure mine are Sunnex, but can’t recall at the moment.
Anyhow, not any skipped sizes in my set, nor the HD set.

Edit, apologies for ignorance to prior discussions, but are you removing the original PS pump from the SR engine?
I just replaced the PS pump on my VR, & was a breeze. Just curious. If so, I will expound.

Mash a good vice grip on that 18 and you won’t strip it. That’s a nice chunky meaty fastener and Volvo metal is good hard stuff, no silver cheese there.

Pump > Hard line > Hose > Hard line > Rack.

Loved that communication technique (your highlite didn’t c&p for some reason, probably text only)

It is the PS on original B5254T4.

Uncover my first oversight. Volvo changed the P2 network in 2005 which was also the first year for the B8444S. It is not going to be plug and play as I hoped. Eye balling a 2006 S60 at the local PNP. Thinking just swap the cab wiring and network out of it into the 2004.

Got the B5254T4, AW50/51 and subframe out. Anybody going to want the four good pistons? I got three Ds and one E. Anything else off the lower end? Otherwise it heading for the scrapyard to be recycled. I have got a lot of other things that could use a new home, including a complete uncut engine bay wiring harness.

Found a $180.00 Vibrant catch can on the car as well as a Geniune Gates pocket screwdriver.
