V70R 2.3 awd more power?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

V70R 2.3 awd more power?

Post by jla80 »

Hi, I have a 1998 V70R as a project car, which I have started to tune over time. Is my power goal of 400-450 hp impossible? The car has or is planned to have: s60r exhaust kit, 3" downpipe, racecat 3" end pipe 2 outlets, 70mm throttle valve, 2.5l turboless cams, intake pipe for do88 cooler and turbo, HKS or h&k air intake, msd Blaster 2 spool and 10mm race plug wires, injectors size 630cc, aem 340lph fuel pump. "piggypack" is soldered to the ecu and the car is adjusted on the bench. What do you recommend? I have a standard turbo cooler. Is the do88 cooler useful? car's cylinder head and the 2.5l non-turbo cams are going to the workshop where they will get even more powerTurbo 19t-HDO4HL which is a problem!! Turbo is practically new with 1000km driven. What turbo should be upgraded? Does changing the wings have any effect? Which turbo would be enough for +400 hp and would fit in the same place with minor changes, like the mitsu 19t? My original plan was to install a Holset 35, but I saw it as too difficult because there is no space to build an external wastegate for it, etc. This is also my first turbo car project so it would have been too difficult. I am 44 years old and on sick pension due to accidental crps disease of the hand, so that also complicates my project. the text is confusing, so I'll shorten my concern:
1. How to work with the turbo?
2. What inexpensive programmable add-on block for the ecu?
3.Do88 turbo cooler is there a difference to the standard?
4.Any ideas on what to change?

text written with google translator, sorry for mistakes

500 bhp is possible in a white block. A guy I knew in Scotland had an engine built by TWR for his 850R back in the late 1990's that was putting out a reliable 500 bhp. Keeping front tires on the car is the challenge. If you have a manual trans this can be done. If your car is like the North America cars we only got autos, so we have to do a manual swap to be able to run that power. The auto was only capable of dealing with up to 320 bhp.

I have not been able to track down the guys doing this, but I was told of a group of guys trying to built a 1000 bhp white block here in Calgary. Another guy I know here also has a 500 bhp 850R built by Four Star Motors in Edmonton.

There is a company in Sweden that builds race engines for Volvo. They were on I think Wheeler dealers or similar program.

There is or was recently a company in Scotland building white block race engines. Sorry don't know the name.

Good luck!

Neil.

Since you have a '98 with the M4.4 ECU, VAST Tuning would be your go-to for ECU/tuning questions. All of the work is done within the confines of the stock ECU and code.

https://www.vasttuning.com/
'97 854 T5 - Manual Swap/M4.4/COP/NA cams/P2R Brakes/16T/ chassis bracing/ XC70 nose swap
'97 855 GLT - Hers. RN swap/16T/COP/VVT/exhaust/302s/Flashed M4.4/ chassis bracing/ 2 kid seats
'78 GLE - Waiting in the wings. Future whiteblock/T5 swap.

The Others- '83 TBird turbo, '85 Mercury Marquis LTS (1 of 134), '86 LTD Wagon, '81 Granada GL, '76 Beetle, '93 F-150 I6

My car is indeed manual with a box and "awd" is also available. The parts of the car have changed as my tuning knowledge has increased, thanks to the administrators and writers of this site as well, I have learned from here too :). The engine cover was tuned in the workshop, it was worked on for 10 hours and you can see it:) 870cc nozzles were added to the doll's rail and Walbro hellcat 525l/h to the tank and an e85 conversion + adjustable pa pressure regulator and 70mm throttle valve will be done. The turbo got a Snabb pipe, a 3" air mass meter, the biggest pro ram in the frame, the battery moved to the tailgate so there is room for the filter when it is really huge:) The turbo got a D04HL-22T Billet Angled Turbine Housing made by Martelius, the turbo should be enough for up to 480 hp on ethanol, 3" downpipe+race cat+3" tailpipes, Klracing 60mm Intercooler and Do88 pipelines. GFB 3005 gforce3 for boost pressure adjustment, the device comes with 6 different programs and also serves as engine protection, because it reads low values if the machine goes lean, it drops the pressures to zero. There is also a fixed tablet , when the ecu comes with a Motronicrt rt6+bluetooth part, I don't install the parts in the ecu myself, I let my friend do it, because he has experience in installing emulators.
-gear intermediate shortcut
-long gear stick
-Bc-racing platform
-Transverse supports front and back
-Maybe a central silencer for the pipeline
-Urethane bushings everywhere, are the bushings useful in the gearbox?
- sand I blow the base and then the bottom to the mass, the bottom is in surprisingly good condition, like the other car panels
- there will be race locks on the hood, because I had to remove my own lock because of the huge cooler. In addition, there will be 3 air intake openings on the hood and there will be carbon fiber look taping on the entire hood.
-Turbo cap, downpipe already taped.
-Is heat-reflecting tape useful?
-Removal of all rust spots from the base
-New wires for Walbro. There was an instruction for this somewhere. Anyone know where it was?
- Change of the air mass meter cover to an aluminum one.
-Optima battery and hifi battery cases in the trunk, I have also thought about removing part of the hifi equipment, amplifier power approx. 8k
-Where can I find instructions on the locations of the vacuum etc. pipes.
- Installation of Seekker quantum+led panels and updating of headlights, maybe also polishing of the "glass". It's dark here for half the year because of the massive lights.
-What are the small batteries of rally cars like?
-something must have been left unsaid, such as:
-Vapar's beaks
-h profiles
-Bearings renewed from the machine and the bevel gear, which also has a bushing.

Sorry for the bad English made with google translate. if you have any ideas on what else to put, I would appreciate it

Here you can get 430 hp to that 1998 Volvo v70r 2.3 awd without any changes, because it is the most powerful of the model series to which other Volvos of the same type are compared.

An addition to the previous one
-I also made a gap interpreter in the block of the mod.
-How does narrowing the plastic part of the throttle affect?
-Which plugs would be good?
-The coil has been changed to msd Blaster 2 and the wires of the 10mm plug.
-Is it worth making other changes to the ignition system?
Because, according to what I've heard, an e85 (ethanol) car is difficult to start in -30 degrees below zero, and the pressure on those 870cc nozzles is raised to 5bar, so they produce 1104cc
Should something be done to the power distributor in your example?
-I'm not familiar with ignition parts at all.
-Do the meters need anything else besides?
I have the boost pressure regulator gforce3 boost pressure and lamda meter.
In addition, there are separate supercharger pressure and lambda value gauges and a fuel pressure gauge in the engine room.
Should I put an -oil pressure/thermometer?
- Water temperature gauge?
-Exhaust heat?
-Volt meter, because the batteries are in the rear container
-Or does anyone know if the tunerpro program shows values on my tablet?
- It's probably a good idea to put the mains disconnectors in the cockpit?
-Any recommendations for which tires? We drive the car on a track, then here there are a lot of dirt roads in addition to asphalt roads, and if the tires are really wide, I know from experience that it's terrible to drive on a dirt road, and if there's still gravel, the max speed is approx. 30-40 km/h because the stones are like bearings on the road
