Pushing coolant and won't start

Post by jaredgrimm »

Hello I am a newer Volvo owner. I purchased a 2006 S60 2.5T for my daughter in 2021. After doing all the work on it and driving it for a while I fell in love with the car. Recently I bought a 2005 V50 T5 FWD with the 6-speed manual. Has 149K on it, timing belt was replaced at 135K at shop in Oregon in 2022. I took a quick looked in the cyls and didn't see any damage. Did see what looked like condensation on top of the pistons. Oil was in the middle of the dipstick and looked normal, coolant res was low. Cranked it over with a jumper box and it turned over without issue. When I got it home, I put a new battery in it. First thing I did was check codes CEL was off, had none present. I topped off the coolant and left the cap off. I cranked it over for a few times. It didn't try to fire but it smelled like fuel and pushed coolant out. I reinstalled the cap and cranked again. Coolant did not push out of the cap. The CEL flashed this time, so I rechecked for code none again. Watched the monitor on the OBD scanner while cranking. Showed fuel pressure 48psi and cam phase but no engine rpms. I do not have VIDA/DICE. It was using a generic scanner. I am planning on checking compression and fuel pressure with manual gauges. I have changed the cam sensors, coil packs and spark plugs. Thanks for any help you can give!
