850 control arm bushes x2

Post by minny »

Hi I have removed the two alloy bodied control arm bushes from the car and ready to refit the new ones.

How to I know where the bush sits relative to the arm to torque it up?

Once refitted its hard to get to the bolts.

Thanks

Should have measured the position before removing!

They should be fairly central in the holes. This picture may help as you can magnify it:

Once you have one in, you can use the 2 mounts they fit into as a guide that they are going to fit.

Good Luck!

Hi thanks but its the Rear control arm bushes that I have replaced, the two transverse arms run left to right and they enter into the alloy bodied bush

where they enter into the bush theres a bolt but theres no access once fitted in, how do you get them into correct position to torque up?

Thanks!

Circled in red is the bolt which i require assistance to torque up,

There is no access to the bolt once each mount is in place inside the rear subframe.

I can torque up the bolt with the arms pulled out but what position do they sit in as they spin on the mounting.

Thanks all

Sorry, are these the rear axle adjustment bushes you are talking about? I was mistaken as you said control arms which are at the front!

On the RHR adjuster (for the left wheel toe in/out) You will likely have to remove the rear sway-bar to get into the bolt head.

On the LHR I thought you could get access with an extender bar or wobble bar. Been a long time since I did a FWD car.

This has been resolved.
I left them finger tight then reassembeld the whole back end, dampers springs delta mounts

I loaded the rear suspension to normal ride height and marked the bush relative to
each transverse arm with a line of paint

I then stripped everything again and swung both arms out and torqued them up ensuring my marks lined up with a bit of loctite also.

All refitted now
