2001 V70 T5
I am having some issues with my camshaft timing. I believe the gear for my intake cam was put on incorrectly and they didn’t line the mark up where it was supposed to be after the cam seal replacement. It was running rough at idle and I noticed the timing marks were off. Now they are correct and this is what I hear when I crank it over. Any way to figure out how to time it properly without the cam marks in the correct spot?

That is the sound of no compression. You either destroyed your engine and bent some valves or the timing is wrong in just the right way to prevent this.
How did you deduce the timing was off?

It ran fine before the cam seal was replaced and after that it was running rough at idle. Took a look at the cams and saw the marks were lined up and after lining them up it started doing that

i had to think about that ,
the marks are always synced to each other whether the engine is on or off,
the camshaft shifts but not the sprockets.
i feel it was a mistake to adjust the cam sprockets without aligning and locking the cam shafts with the proper tool first.
then loosen the vvt bolt to allow safe vvt hub adjustment.
it should have gone back top the shop, he bought it now.
if he adjusted it more than 4 teeth it probably crashed the head.
