Hello!
Thanks for the valuable information on this site! I realize most forums are filled with unhappy owners....(and I have yet to find a forum for "happy" owners)...but if I would have seen this before I bought my 2000 S80 I would have run from the volvo dealership as fast as I could!
I purchased my 2000 S80 T-6 used with approx 20K miles back in Aug 05'...now I know---whoever traded it in must have seen this forum. The car has about 47K on it now and I can only tell you I've been through the same nightmare as all of you...radiator...stalling on the hwy at 70mph...(even after the recall work)...noisy moonroof, squeeky interior....crazy bulb failure messages. I think I've replaced every bulb in the car and I still have a "hyper" right blinker that I fix weekly by pulling out the entire light fixture and jiggling the wires...(that seems to help for a few days)...when I mentioned to the dealer to change a foglight bulb he came back with a $40 replacement cost....(I bought the bulb myself for 5 bucks).....ANYWAY...my problem is the following:
When I lock my doors the alarm engages...red LED blinks on the dash and everything is cool. After about 5 minutes the alarm will go off, and continue to go off everytime the car is locked for a few minutes! The dealer...who I might mention is very helpful and friendly--NOT---said it was some type of module that costs over $400....OH, and the $2K extended warranty I bought with the car?...as with everything else---not covered...great---(they wouldn't even pay for a previous towing since I "didn't clear it with them first"...like you have time to ask their permission when your "POS" car is blocking the middle lane of I-95 rush hour traffic!)
Back to the problem...is there a way to disengage the alarm and still be able to lock my car in the city???? I can't seem to find a labeled fuse that corresponds to the siren and blinking lights of the alarm. I (along with all of my neighbors) would be greatful if someone has info regarding this issue...I'm looking forward to breaking even on this car sometime this year and ditching it! My sister drives a brand new $16K Nissan and is treated with the utmost respect at her dealership---she was surprised that these dealership guys with the attitude can keep customers who shell out $54K for a new car!
Thanks!!
