1998 S70 T5 Steering Rack Failure (repost)

Hi guys,

This is what I found out and I was hoping for some advice: A puddle develops shortly after parking the car under the right end of the car behind the right front wheel. The problem is getting worse and worse. The volvo garage said yesterday that there is an internal leak in the steering rack and it is dripping out from the rack's side now. I had a look and the external leak was visible. He said if the dripping was near the left side, it would likely be a hose but a right indicates that it is the rack. Here are my questions:
1. I checked FCP Gorton: They don't have a rack for the T5 (turbo models) listed for sale but only for the non-turbo.
2. The price of a rebuilt rack at the volvo indep garage is $800.
3. Is there a more cost reasonable option?
4. Those with similar high mileage, have they had their steering racks replaced?

The only other 2 options are salvage or to rebuild it yourself. For salvage try erievovo.com. They are kinda slow on email responses but they can tell you instantly if you call them on the phone.

A rebuild kit is around $50.00 and there is a good writeup in bay 13.

Is it the same part for the turbo or the non-turbo model for the rack? Thank you.
