Key won't come out of ignition 2004.5 S40
Hello, I recently noticed my check engine light come on while driving home from work. I have about 32,000 miles and just recently took it in for scheduled maintenance. I parked for about half an hour and then went to move the car and nothing will start. The engine doesn't turn over and no display lights come up. What actually bothers me the most at this point, is that the key will not come out of the ignition. As I was trying to get the key out (for about 5 min) all of a sudden the radio came on as did all the display lights. The automatic locks don't work and I don't really want to leave the key in the ignition all night before I can get a tow. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much!!

Move the steering wheel back and forth while trying to get the key out (gently). Sounds like a classic case of the steering wheel lock mechanism blocking the ignition. Happens when the wheel is turned sharply, or the front wheel(s) is on an uneven surface.

The steering column is locked, but the wheels are straight and I am parked in my level driveway. Could this be an electrical issue? The car is still under warranty, I'm just kinda curious as to what is going on. I haven't had any issues with this car before, and I absolutely love it. Thanks for the help!

If you have your radio code, try disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes (that will tell you if it's electrical or not). Other than that and what's said above, I don't know what to tell you.
