Not starting problem

I have a 1996 850 Volvo, its in good cond and i just had the battery replaced. and the altinator checked(sp?) but it runs fine, starts fine but every once in awhile (usually after i leave it setting for an extended period of time) it dies. it wont start or anything, it wont turn over, the power door locks doesnt work. After i take out the battery and charge it maunally it starts no problem. also the battery was completely dead. now im wondering might it be a short or something in the altinator? but if you know of any fuses i should try and pull to see if anything is running it down, that would be most helpfull,

oh ya btw i just bought this car from a privite seller so im not sure if it has done it before
