Air conditioning noise 95 volvo 940

Got a strange one here. the A/C works but sometimes it sounds like there are sounds back in the ductwork that are not supposed to be there and switching airflow direction may be slightly delayed. Now there is a constant hissing sound somewhere within the system even when it is turned off. I wonder if there is a module that is acting up. Sorry, but this the best explanation of the problem that I can give. Thanks Clay

Is the AC system manual or automatic?
