Hi Esteemed group,
Bought the car in July, runs great. 176k. Just recently had the transmission OD bypassed because it wouldn't shift to OD/4th. I used an OD Blank from IPDusa.com
The problem now is the tail lights and the dash lights keep blowing fuses.
We've had this car out in the rain, night, you name it and it worked flawlessly. Got stopped by the cops and while checking found #21 & #22 keep blowing. While checking the fuse panel #4 blew(brake light) also.
Any ideas what or where to start looking for the problem? I also noticed that #16(heater blower motor fuse was missing and the plastic around the slot was deformed from heat) But the blower motor turns on periodically during use. My guess is there was some type of electrical work with short cuts by the previous owner to get this car sold. The radio (aftermarket) turns off and on at times.
Thanks again,

If the tail lights are going out when fuses 21 and 22 blow but the front parking lights are staying on then the car has had some serious re-wiring done as both front and rear lights are on the same fuses.
This is one of those problems that are difficult to advise on without seeing the car. You are going to have to follow every wire from the lights that are affected and see if you can find out what has been done.
The problem with the radio could stem from the fuse panel as it is on fuse 5 which is adjacent to 16 and could have been affected by the overheat there.
It may pay to source a replacement, used fuse panel.
Bill.

It sounds like you have a short somewhere. If you can't find it by looking about you can use a short finder to locate it. You can find them for sale on fleabay. If you want real high tech the company that makes the powerprobe also makes a short finder that has a transmitter that you hook up to the line with the short and a receiver that locates the short ( about $100)
