I find absolutely nothing for your first code...your second code I found here (not specific to Volvo's): http://www.tankota.net/repair/Repair_Ma ... p06046.pdf
Somehow I higly doubt that your ECM (main computer) is kaput...if it were, you would get a ton of other codes. Check for continuity between the pins on your ECU and all wiring...make sure there's no corrosion (even your battery terminals and ground wires) and clean and reseat everything. You can also reset your codes (you'll need a code reader) to see if this is a one time only thing or if it's continuous. Good luck and post back.

P0607 translates to Volvo specific code ECM-711A: "Control module, internal fault." [Users of VADIS can find the conversion chart I used under Group 2, "Diagnostic Information/General Diagnostics and Test", subgroup 20, "Conversion table..."] And I quote VADIS: "Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-711A is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the internal circuit for the timer in the control module."cobyco wrote:I have two computer code errors on my 2002 XC70 -P2907 and P0607 - Can anybody tell me what they mean so when I can possibly get the parts and fix the old gal myself.

So, clear codes. If it returns, check charging voltage of the alternator (as this can sometimes affect the computer). Otherwise, you need a new ECM and an ECM reload.

I tried to post the following as the first answer here earlier but the site was being finicky...anyway, here it is:

I have the same code on a S80 2002. Have you fixed your ECM-711-A? If yes, how?VCA wrote: ↑14 Feb 2009, 06:51P0607 translates to Volvo specific code ECM-711A: "Control module, internal fault." As you can see there were some ECM-711A problems before in this forum. But none of them closed, we do not know the results. All of these topics are very old, and users may not active today. That is why I tried to reply all of them, maybe one of them still active today.
