What would cause a car to act strangely

Welcome to MVS.
To be honest, this is a Volvo forum....so questions should be about Volvo's but in any car's case, your car's problem is most likely due to water getting in the ignition parts. Let things dry and you should be back to normal.

You may also want to check the plug wires for cracks
