System Too Rich 200 V70 AWD XC

Post by lynnrx63 »

My Volvo mechanic is having a tough time diagnosing the following codes: P0172 System Too Rich-Bank 1
P1171 Fuel Adaption, Bank 1
P1238 Turbo Control Valve.

I have new spark plugs. The upper and lower motor mounts recently replaced as they broke. (car has 90K miles, and I tow a double snowmobile trailer Dec-Apr). Fuel filter replaced, had gunk. No black smoke from exhaust. Runs bad when cold, almost no noticable "chugging" when warm/hot. Coolant Temp Sensor checked, and is good. Gas mileage is poor, around 20 mpg summer, 16-17 when towing.

any more ideas? Help!

Have you checked the thin white (on 850s anyway) vacuum lines around the engine? They or their elbows crack and cause havoc with fuel/air mixtures.

How's the mass airflow sensor?

Run some seafoam through the fuel system and pull a vacuum line off and let it suck some seafoam dierctly into the intake, it will cause black junk to fly out of the tail pipe (don't be alarmed) keep doing it 'till there is no more black junk coming out. Also have the fuel preasure checked if it is too low it will cause the same problems that you are experiencing.
