Replacement tires for C70

Post by beancrawley »

I have the Pirelli PZero Rossos that came on the car. Got 24k miles out of them & love the ride they provide, but...hate the price of replacement!!!

I am looking for other C70 owners who have replaced tires - what did you use & what are the pros/cons of them?
Volvo suggests Kumhos, other tire places have suggested the Goodyears or Michelins.

I am mostly concerned with the ride being as good as it is on the Pirellis. Sound is a secondary concern - I don't want to hear the "wah, wah, wah" noise when the top is down.

Would think the same tires as S70 would be fine- I put General Altimax on mine and have been very happy- not loud at all and very responsive tire! I bought from Tirerack.com

Check out www.tirerack.com for fitment and reviews. I don't trust any positive consumer review if they've put less than 5000 miles on the tires - most new tires feel great compared to old tires, expecially wet weather traction.

If you have a warehouse club membership (Costco, Sam's, etc), check them out too - a lot of times they can beat everyone else especially when you factor in the included road hazard guarantee and lifetime rotation - my mechanic tells me Costco's installed price is often lower than his supplier's cost on tires.

I just put "Falken ziex 912 all weather tires " on and the ride so far is great, had them now about 1000 miles they handled well in the noreaster rains we just had here in NJ this past weekend. They were under 600 for the 4 at tires plus on sale.

Tires will and can make or break your ride. Directional tires tend to be louder with more road noise but tend to grip better under hard cornering. I had some Japanese no name tires the previous owner put on with the Canistos and I put on 18" nebulas with a225/40/18 size and have phenomenal ride in kumho platinums. I have a lowered suspension as well.
