96 850 volvo

new motor in my 850 and first time it fired up very hard to start all connections are right i think but car runs very bad. the only code that comes up is the coolant temp sensor will this make the car run like crap like a ford will do when that sensor is bad? please help im a harley tech and do all my work myself and this is frustrating me. i love my 850 wagon and really want to be driving it.

Yes, the coolant temp sensor will make the car run very rough, sometimes not at all. You need to replace that sensor and you should be fine. You can find the sensor here.

Double check your connections for the sensor because they are really finicky.

thanx alot man big help changed the sensor today and took my battery to advance bc i dont have a charger andhad a freind hook it up for me and he hooked it up neg to the pos and fried my alt...
