Check engine light: Codes P0089 and P0193

Post by fiorano »

'05 XC90-V8: The check engine light comes on every other day; almost always when idling. Nothing seemly wrong with the engine's performance. I took the car to the dealer and they updated the software; however the CEL stills comes on. I checked the engine codes and got codes P0089 and P0193. Both seem to be related to fuel pressure. I am leaning towards the fuel rail pressure sensor. Any advise? Thanks

First I have to say that the V8 engine has been near flawless. It does share one part that fails on other cars very often though and it is related to fuel pressure. It mounts on the fuel rail and is the fuel pressure sensor. Part number is 30756097. I'm willing to bet that is it, although they don't usually fail on the V8, but it is the same part number.

Thanks for the reply.
Has anybody replaced the rail fuel pressure sensor on the V8. I took a look and I couldn't locate it. A little different than the 2.5 (engine) where the sensor is easy to get to. Any input/instructions will be greatly appreciated.
