A/C Compressor not powering on.

Post by diverrider »

Hi, I have a 2001 S60 2.4T that the garage that check my A/C unit said that the compressor and dryer needs replaced. With the help of my neighbor we ran power to the compressor directly from the battery. It ran fine with no noise and cool the car. He thought that the pressure unit of whatever powers the compressor needs replaced. I pulled the cover from the bottom to find the dryer and pressue unit but I am not sure what I am looking for. Is there a schmatic layout that I can download? Any input would be most appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I can't find a schematic to link you to, but go to the link below and scroll down near the bottom of the page and it will show you what the part looks like. Vadis shows the sensor screwing into the top of the drier and it will have a wire/plug snapped into it. It shouldn't be too hard to find. If you are interested I think I have a low mile used one from an S60 that I would sell. MY email is [email protected]

Thanks for the information Otis. I pulled the bottom cover off to inspect the drier and found the pressue valve on top of it. I pulled the electrical connector off and plug it back on. The compressor kicked in and it is blowing cool air again. I will keep you email on hand in the event it dies again. Thanks for the suggestions and link.
