Oil Leak

Today blue smoke was billowing from under my bonnet. Oil is getting onto the exhaust manifold. When I look under the car at the rear of the engine there is something missing off the engine block? its just where the manifold bends, you have to use a mirror to see down the hole and its not threaded? what is it thats mssing / falen off. I have had to bung it temporarily. its a 2002 v40 2 litre petrol. I cant even find any reference diagrams of the engine.... any ideas?

Does anyone know what engine is in this model or have a diagram? its like a sensor has fallen off or something. so if you jack the car up and look up where the manifold bends but on the engine. to the right of the manifold and up a small way is where the offending hole is. when you look inside the hole its shiney gold and perfectly round. and looks like its meant to be there???

I am the only one who has this model?

Went down to volvo, spoke to parts and there is a plug with a gasket on this engine which cost about £10 Uk so the parts are ordered and will fit them today.
