Aloha,
Following the procedure set forth in a forum on replacing the tailgate struts in an 850, I was happy with how everything went until the replacement struts arrived. I ordered them by OEM part number 8643038, but the ends are oriented the same way, whereas the installed struts face opposite:inward at the tailgate and outward nearer the seat.
Is this a small branching off of a part that I incorrectly ordered or is this an aftermarket problem? The picture on the website at fcpgroton.com shows the ends facing different directions, but I can move the ends on the struts I received without loosening the hydraulic case.
Any suggestions or advice?

Mike, how did the strut replacement work out? I'm local to FCP Groton and pick up parts there all the time. Just got the struts for a tailgate replacement yesterday. Let me know how the job went and if you have any tips or tricks learned.
