Horn will not stop blowing

Post by volvo9485t »

After hitting my steering wheel(in the middle) out frustration  , my horn will not stop blowing. I had to disconnect the horn cables, from underneath the hood in order for the horn to stop blowing.... Any advice is welcomed, because now after hooking the horn cables back up to the horn, and removeing the fuse for the horn, I've created another problem, my windshield wipers will not work.....Thanks in advance!!!!!

Been there done that...so has half of the forum here. You broke the plastic tabs in the steering wheel. This was one of my first DIY projects. Take a look at this stuff:

Yeah, happens to thew best of us. Especially the people in the Tri-State area. :-)

You will have to remove the Air Bag and then replace the plastic parts to get it working again.

When my horn contacts busted, I upgraded to a leather steering wheel that I got from a local Volvo/VW salvage yard. (Still had to fix the the horn contacts in it.) The leather wheel has been much nicer to drive with than my original.

I replaced the contacts using screws, nuts, nylon washers and heat shrink tubing around the screw that I got at Lowe's Home Improvement.
