I have a 93 850 with a strange air issue. The air works fine when in use. The issue starts when I turn the car off.
When I turn it off and leave when I come back the air will be running without the ignition being turned on. I have even made sure the A/C was off and the fan was off before leaving the car and it will come on sometime after leaving the car. This is not the cooling fan running. Every time I describe this to a mechanic they always tell me it is the cooling fan but the last I checked it does not blow inside the car.
This is a intermittent issue which makes it even more difficult to ID.
Thanks for your help.

That's an odd problem you've got there!
I don't have THE answer, but here are some places you could start.
Do all the dash switches related to climate control work properly? no bizarre clicking? they operate smoothly? The fan switch, the AC OFF switch, the dash air selector, etc?
Remember that the dash air selector, if set to the windshield setting, will also turn on the AC. Of course, only when the ignition is on.
Speaking of ignition, does your key turn any differently or make any strange sounds or clicks or grinds? perhaps something is going wrong in there.
Does anything else in the car stay active that should only be working when the ignition is engaged?
Any electrical smells coming from the car?
Had any electrical work done in the last 6 mos or so? or ever, I guess!
I know that my 93 850 has gone a little nuts electrically when if I run through a huge puddle. I now avoid standing water like the plauge when I'm driving. Have you had lots of precipitation where you live?
