94 850 Turbo Wagon - Various Problems - Fix or Sell?

Post by jonesy850boosted »

I have a 94 850 turbo wagon, that is giving me so much stress, I am on the verge of just selling it for probably $700

The body is clean, it looks nice - interior is gray and in good shape, decent charcoal paint (oxidized a little bit, but still looks pretty clean) Has michelin tires with 80% tread and the 15 inch alloys painted black. I would post a pic, but the car is in the shop

The problem is, I have been fighting a 3-2-2 code and I have done basically everything I can.

I copied and pasted this from an old post I made:

I am getting strange rpm readings that dont reflect the actual rpms of the engine for a few seconds here and there, where it drops down to zero for a few seconds or it will bounce around from actual rpms to zero. Most of the time it works properly, and it is strange because the rpm thing usually freaks out only within the first five minutes of driving and it works right afterwards until I stop and restart the car.

Also, when I clear the code in the A-1 terminal, I noticed that when i plug in the jumper the red light glows just a tiny little bit even before I press the button. It doesnt do that on any other terminal????

Here is a run down of what I have done to try and fix this annoying problem

Followed the guide to taking apart and cleaning the PNP switch

Reverse lights work and it starts from neutral, Pretty sure pnp is not the problem

I also switched out the RPM sensor, Camshaft position sensor and switched the TCM. Cleaned the contacts on the TCM and the contacts on the gauge cluster.

I switched out the guage cluster with a friends 850 turbo and the rpm thing still present with his guages in too.

So, I have the car at a specialist right now who cant figure it out either, and I dont know if I should keep throwing money at it or pull the pin and just get away from this thing. The most frustrating part is the engine runs really good when it doesnt have this electrical bug.

Thanks for reading

have them check the throttle position sensor. i'm sure you've already replaced/tested cap, rotor, plugs and wires so that cant be the problem. check for vacuum leaks as well.
