3 Problems with My 1994 850

First off, thanks for your help. I've used this site before for some fixes with nothing but success, most recently I fixed my drivers seat-back cable with the help of your tutorial. My first problem has to do with fixing my odometer, I know how to fix it (replacing the little gear, I have the iPd kit), but I don't know how to get the correct mileage to fix the display. Second, my drivers side windshield wiper just broke. I was driving along with them on when it decided to go way too far to the left and actually flopped over to the side of my car, without any provocation. Now it won't respond, though the other side works fine. Finally and most mysteriously, a few times over the last few days I have started my car normally but found that none of my electronics (radio, air conditioners, seat warmers, lights, etc.) work. When I turn the car back off and start again they work just fine. I have no idea what this could be, except that it seems to only happen when it is particularly cold. I know the answer to your 3rd question! That's probably your ignition switch. Twitch the key once you get it running and see if everything will fire up.

The windshield wiper sounds like it may have broken the splines or just lost a nut. We used to have an Expedition that as a brand new car that the stupid nut would fall off the wipers constantly (even after the dealer "fixed it this time") and they'd smash into each other and trash the wiper arms.

Easy deal,

I used a battery drill with a pencil chucked up in it to set the actual mileage on the odometer.

The wiper arm is a constant problem. First tighten the nut in the correct resting position and then you may need to bend the arm to give it a clean wipe.

You were right, the nut was loose. Thanks for catching that. I was about to spend a whole lot of time disassembling things and not finding that.

For the ignition switch problem, what is the fix? Does it need to be replaced or is their some lesser issue?

Replaced. There are two parts to it - the whole tumbler/lock assembly, and just the electrical switch part of it. All you need to do is open up the cover around the steering wheel, unbolt the electrical portion of the ignition switch, and replace it. It will take you <30 minutes even if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing. They run about $40 or so from when I had to change mine.
