'99 s80 t-6 new etm-no go..

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

'99 s80 t-6 new etm-no go..

Post by DelM01 »

Hello everyone! A good friend of mine has a '99 t6 sedan, one day recently he drove to an appointment, all was peachy with the car, he came out to leave and his Volvo would barely run. The car was in limp mode!! so he called me up. I told him about the ETM problems these cars have, so he contacted and ordered a new ETM from Xemodex. I installed it with the new gasket, and it did not help. The car will not rev above 2k rpms, and now with new etm runs very rough at idle. the car has 130k on it, the ETM i took out was factory (white sticker) any suggestions? also the only code that came up prior to replacement was ; Throttle/pedal position sensor circuit A

Sounds like the 'pot' or whatever it is called which is connected to the gas pedal to send a signal the the ETM or computer. Haven't heard much about these going wrong. Wonder if a wire is loose or ???
In case it is, here are a numbder of pages from VADIS.

Thanks dcarlson12!! that was not the problem though, it turns out that it was a fuse. The guy at Xemodex,Chris, pointed out that the fuse ,according to him, always blows when the ETM goes bad. We changed the fuse and is working good now. I have to say though, that I have never seen any mention of this fuse anywhere in all the literature I have read in these many different forums regarding the ETM. Might be that I just overlooked it somewhere. Thanks again for your generous help in sending those pages!!
