Does anyone else have poor FOB/Remote range?

Post by CojonesDeToro »

I have an '01 V70T5 and it seems that I have to be standing right next to the vehicle in order to get the FOB to work. I also have to press it several times on occasion to get it to respond. This is annoying because I have owned Nissans and Hondas that worked from several hundred feet away. It's my biggest pet peeve of an otherwise outstanding vehicle.

Is this par for the course or is there something I can do about it?

Note: I have not tried to replace batteries, both FOBS behave the same way and the dealer said "there's no problem". If others say they do not see this problem then I will refresh the cells in the FOBs or buy new ones.

Thanks.

Volvo fobs are poorly designed. My '97 locks, but unlocking is always a bit more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes one quick stab of the unlock button does it, sometimes the same action (re) locks it.

That said, new batteries do give me range back: from 5 meters/yards when low to 10-15 meters/yards when new.
