Volvo Repair Database Problems with boost

Post by gmtgmt »

Im working on a molested T5 R that has a problem with boost.

The guy who own it said it just at one point just lost all power.

Its mostly stuck 3" Downpipe, highflow cat, 2.5" Cat back, k&n filter in stock box and a boost controller.

All vaccum hoses at the turbo has been changed.

When we retrofited the original boost controler at the airfilterbox and add a boost gauge and removed the aftermarket boost controler we got about boost pretty consistant about 7 psi. Drove pretty good but still kinda sluggish
we checked the plug wires they where really bad

plugs where good and orignal volvo

Changed the wires, cab and rotor to good but used volvo from a spare engine allready my better starting and drove much better.

We then took the aftermarket boost controller apart and the little ball that are used as a one way valve was stuck cleaned everything up nice and connected it to the turbo and disconnected the orignal and we got boost again at about 9psi still kinda sluggish and the owner says it dosent have the pretty loud "Blow off" anymore and he says it was alot faster also

So we thinking something else is wrong we where thinking the original blow off is stuck or the waste gate is done.

Here are 2 videos running with stuck boost controller and the aftermarket boost controller:

Any ideas?

Thanks, Thomas.
