2001 S40

My 2001 S40 is making a rough noise when I put the car in reverse from park. Also when I put it in Drive from reverse. I can hear the noise from the front of the car. Anyone have any suggestiion where I should start looking for a solution?

Can you describe the noise better? I have read on here that the 2001 transmissions are no good, but I don't know if it includes the S40 too.

The transmissions in the S/V40 have been great for any year. Probably not a trans issue, sounds like maybe a mount is bad and you are getting a clunk noise?
