Broken Plastic Hose!

I was replacing vacuum hoses on my wife's V70 (2006 n/a) and the angle of the top breath hose (#5 in the fig) caught my eyes...

This hose is a plastic and rubber "hybrid", the middle portion is plastic and two ends are rubber (p/n 30713469). It's really an great idea to make a part lasting the warranty period, after that you need to replace with the old style whole rubber hose (p/n 9497534) for $26.

Indeed fcp (vendor) has 9497534 for 30713469 when I searched it, and although that part is a little different, it worked just fine for me.

I was able to replace it without removing the intake manifold by using a long flat screwdriver to unlock the oetiker clamps, and using a screw clamp for securing the end that connects to the breather box (catch can). There are plenty of room under the manifold, at least in our 06 S60 as this applies to a lot of 5-cyl volvos after 1998 models.

For the top connector I used oetiker clamps size 25.6 - I had no luck with screw clamps on that one when I did the PCV of our 98 NA once before and it was leaking a bit. Oetiker clamp solved that issue for me. The oetiker clamps can be re-used with a little fix and side cutter will do the trick of crimping it.
