APA URO heater hoses for S70

Post by LUDErunner11 »

So when I google something, I would hope to find a post like the one you are reading.

If you are thinking about getting that APA/URO/aftermarket heater hose from ipd, FCP, or whatever else INSTEAD OF OEM Volvo, don't do it. Just trust the rest of us on this...
Bought a URO upper heater hose (inlet) for '00 S70 GLT to compliment the new heater core and firewall junction (both OEM) just installed, and the junction came with all new o-rings and such. The URO hose goes in fine into the junction coupler in the firewall. As I start looking for leaks inside and out, I find no leaks from the heater core or pipes: Inside...CHECK. Take a good look at the where the heater hoses connect to the engine & coolant pipe: no leaks... CHECK. Next, I check the firewall coupler: one drop every 10 seconds when car is on...CHECK. The URO has a very VERY SMALL leak, BUT A LEAK NONETHELESS. On my way now to order the $70 hose from Rusnak Volvo so I can fix it and forget about it. I wanna drive this thing in the winter, not get it ready for spring.

My contribution to the forum. Hope this helps someone out there to save a lil more for getting "the right part, the first time."

Welcome to MVS,

You are correct on the URO hoses. Pretty much everyone who has used them has had trouble on both the coolant system and the oil lines that come along with the PCV kits.

URO sucks and I can't believe FCP still sells their crap. Fuel door hinge: Doesn't fit. Radiator hoses: too small, won't fit. Air guide underneath the car: Too narrow.

Quite frustrating isn't it?

URO hoses are junk, but you have to watch out for the bad batch of Volvo hoses...
