S80 air conditioning problem

I have a friend with a 1999 S80. His A/C blows nice and cold on the driver's side dash vents. However, the passenger side dash vents blow warmer air, even when the temperature controls for both sides are turned to the lowest settings.

I would seem to me that there are either two temperature control valves with one malfunctioning or there is a set of ventilation dampers not closing or opening properly. Anyone have a clue what to look for or where to start? This car looks much more complicated than my 740 GLE.
