Ok so here it is:
1999 non turbo volvo v-70 164k miles, recently purchased. Looks as though the ETM has been replaced (I checked it out underneath the ETM, and there was a yellow sticker from Volvo, which I was told was a way to determine whether or not it was replaced.)
Last week, spark plugs (which were still factory, yikes!), fuel filter, air filter, cabin filter, all replaced. Great. Brakes and rotors also replaced (get this, the front rotors, were also still factory! YIKES! They had about a 1/2 a centimeter lip from being worn so hard by the pads for 12 years...) We still need to replace the vapor recovery tube that runs by the gas tank, its disconnected and has a small tear. We are doing that tonight, but we are also not convinced that it will remedy the codes that are coming up on the computer reader.
Here are the codes and the lights that are on as of now.
Dash lights: Traction control, ABS, Check engine, and the brake light also pops up here and there.
Codes: p0600 p1054 p1081
Additional information: The ABS and traction lights aren't on all the time, sometimes they go off, and then pop back up together later after I have been driving a while. Also, the car has a tendency to drop down to about 200 rpms when I my foot off the gas to decelerate, when it drops down that low, it feels like its going to stall, and often, does. Just completely shuts off. Nice right? Thankfully its only happened in parking lots.
Any information is helpful. Do I bring the car to a dealer? They are so expensive, labor rates are outrageous.
check engine, abs, traction, lights all illuminated
Also, I have looked on the actron website at the DTC look up, except it is not helpful because I do not know the "vehicle system" to choose for these codes. I went through all of the systems available, and I cannot find it anyway, so it doesnt make a difference. Also obdii.com has a look up area but they have only American based companies to select for searching.

A bad ABS module can sometimes cause things to go flukey. See if you can figure out which fuse is associated with it, pull the fuse and see if things improve. If so, odds are you have a bad ABS module. Warning, pulling the ABS fuse will cause you to lose your speedometer.

Time to send your abs module to forum member Matty MOO at www.midwest-abs.com. Getting it repaired should fix all your problems.
