How to completely disable/remove the alarm - 2000 S40 1.8

Post by pds »

Hi guys!

Have a problem in my mom's 1.8, year 2000, Volvo S40. The alarm randomly goes off while locking the car with the remote. If locked with the key, it works ok, since it doens't activates the alarm.

I saw several posts on the possible causes for the alarm to randomly going off, but I really don't need the alarm. I just want to disable, deactivate, remove, or erase it...

From what I have been reading, the most probable cause is the battery in the siren. So, I was thinking on simply removing it or disconect it.

Does any one knows if there will be any problems if I remove the siren? Also, if I remove it, can I keep using the remote to open and close the doors?
