How do I turn off my check engine light?

My check engine light came on while driving home last night, and the engine seemed to have a hesitation/slight vibration, especially when stopped at stop signs or traffic lights. I stopped at AutoZone to have them use the analyzing unit to diagnose the problem. There was a misfire in cylinder 3. I changed the spark plugs this morning and the car drives great, however the check engine light still remains on. How do I get the check engine light to turn off?

If you don't have an OBD code reader (like the one at Autozone) it's not possible. I bought an Autel MS509 scanner and it works fine for most jobs except SRS codes.

Drive it a couple more days. I have a feeling it may become a stored code (meaning it will extinguish) the next couple of times you drive it.

It should clear after three cold-warm cycles. Thats assuming that the misfire is the only code in there. The misfire may have fouled an O2 sensor.

I had the check engine light come on twice, both times the engine did not run abnormally. I found that a tank of high-test gas cleared the light after a couple of days.
