So I hit this pot-hole in Mexico... blower motor help

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

So I hit this pot-hole in Mexico... blower motor help

Post by interace2 »

Hello,

I have a 2001 S80 2.9

Recently I was leaving the airport in TJ, MX headed back to California, when all of a sudden I hit a huge patch of messed up road and BOOM, bottom out pretty freaking hard. :( At that moment the Blower Motor started bumping and clunking under the dash shaking the car really hard.

I removed the blower motor, and found a piece of rubber seal or something wrapped up INSIDE the fan... I figured that it was some vent seal that broke loose and got pulled up in, causing it to wobble off-balance, and that removing this would fix it.

Now that I have it all back together, it doesn't spin at all... and cant figure out why. I have everything connected, except this small green connector, but im not sure where that goes either. Please help, it was spinning just before I removed it.

Thanks,
Ron

Can't really say where that small green connector goes, but I will say that you are lucky that all you boogered with that pothole was a blower motor. I hit a pothole coming back from 'Vegas, about 95mph, flattened the inside of the rf wheel. Reported it to my insurance, and by the time the repair shop was done, they had replaced the strut, spindle, lower control arm, and a bunch of assorted bushings. Oh yeah, the wheel and tire too. beware of those potholes. Good luck with that blower motor.
BTW, for some odd reason, when S80 electrical stuff quits working after a bit of massaging, the old remote-lock/unlock three times seems to restore function. Kinda like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, clicking her heels together three times. Or not.
Good luck,
Dave
