95 850 Wagon - Power Driver's Window Won't Go Up

Subject says it all. All other windows operating fine. Driver's window down about 90% of the way, won't go back up. Switch makes "clicking" noise, but the window doesn't budge at all. TIA

Most of the time (99%) it is the window switch itself. I have had decent luck with just spraying in a bunch of contact cleaner from the top to clean up the contacts and get the switch working again.

If that isn't successful you can download the schematics from the downloads area under the repair database tab. Those schematics are a pain in the butt to use but they are quite accurate.

Schematics that are simpler to use are in the factory service manual:

Once you download the file unzip it and see System Wiring Diagrams.pdf.

If it isn't that. It might be the scissor re-tractor inside the door, The bolts may have broke that hold it on. If you take of your moldings to the door under it theirs a plate with a bunch of screws then there should be 2 nuts on each side of the plate. This is what holds the scissor thing that makes the window go up and down. undo the bolts and if there's no resistance and its very loose and spins, its broke off. I noticed on my car 1 side has broke off, so only one is holding it. This might not be your problem. But its best to have a bunch of opinions. Maybe try to shake the door to see if anything big is loose? There is a write up on how to take of the door. there's screws going on the bottom of door, under the brown trim piece 2 bolts, long speaker screw, and a few clips to take the door of in my car. then you have to lift up and out, i broke the clips on mine but it doesn't matter cause the screws hold her in tight. The clips are just to get it on better or extra enforcement lol. Well hope this helps and again this is my opinion. if its not the switch you probably gotta take the door apart anyway, so that's something you can check.

I bet also on window switch. Very common on 700/800/900 models.

Before cleaning try one of the working window+button from passenger or rear, and use it to operate the drivers window.

Ok reporting back - tried the "top down" approach with the contact cleaner and no joy. Window began to operate again a few days later, and then stopped again. It worked again after giving the door a slam, so sounds like I need to follow up inside the door.

Ok in the "better late than never" category, I finally pulled the driver's door panel, and found one of the two green wires in the black plug that goes to the power window motor was hanging loose. I reconnected the wire and the window is operational. Thanks all for the responses.

When I first took ownership of my Sedan the passengers window didn't work at all. I opened the door panel and found the motor unplugged. Plugged it in and no problems since.

When I got the Turbo Wagon, the passengers rear didn't work. Same thing.

On some of the junk yard finds, I've noticed a zip tie and tape on the window motor connectors from the factory. It appears they figured this one out.
