Water Pump Gasket - Adhesive Yes or No

Good Afternoon,

Wanted to post a quick question... When replacing the water pump... should I use a gasket adhesive or not... It appears the original gasket did not have adhesive... was installed dry.

Has anyone had an issue with the water pump leaking around the gasket when installed properly but without gasket adhesive?

I would normally put a thin layer of Copper Coat on the gasket...

I just did one yesterday, no sealant just dry. If it makes s you feel good then use it.

The one I did yesterday was with the engine out of the car. It knocks the whole t-belt job down to 30 minutes or less.

I usually put anti-seize on water pump gaskets to make the next replacement easier.
